If you’ve been reading the blog for any amount of time, you’ll know how important living mindfully is to me. So, I’m always excited when I get to partner with great companies doing cool things that help us to become more balanced, healthy, and efficient. This post is what I call a partner promo, meaning, the team at Foster Farms sent me products and asked me for my honest opinion. Which is exactly what you’re getting! Enjoy!
“There’s nothing to eat in this house” is a phrase I use all too often for having a newly renovated kitchen and loving to cook as much as I do. What’s worse is that comment is usually followed by “I’ll just eat a protein bar” which is fine every now and then but is not the healthiest option to choose four times out of five. Eating a protein bar for lunch is likely frowned upon by most nutritionists. I love taking my lunch to work but for some reason, the thought of packing lunch never occurs to me until 5 minutes before I need to rush out the door to catch my shuttle to the office. I’m a protein-powered person and unfortunately, I rarely have >5 min. lunch options that are high in protein readily available in my fridge. So, when the team over at Foster Farms asked if I’d like to test out and write a review of their new Bold Bites chicken snacks, I immediately said yes!
So, you’re likely asking “what the heck ARE Bold Bites?”. They are pre-portioned, sealed individual packages of cooked and seasoned ready-to-eat chicken breast meat 15 g of lean protein per serving. They come in 5 flavors: Caribbean Jerk, Chile Verde, Korean BBQ, Parmesan Garlic, and Cajun. They contain no nitrates/nitrites, antibiotics, or artificial colors/flavors. The individual packing is not only great for portion control but also makes for a great on-the-go snack or solution for us busy people!
My favorite flavors were Chile Verde and Caribbean Jerk. I loved having these in the house to mix into a salad or just eat straight from the bag! (Which, I’ll admit, happened with quite a few bags!) They also make lunch assembly in the morning a breeze! Just pick the chicken flavor, fill a Tupperware of salad and choose the add-ins! Easy peasy healthy salad for lunch made in under 5 minutes! Hungry the moment you get home from work and need something right away? No problem. Grab a pot to boil some water for pasta, saute up a few veggies (asparagus and zucchini are my favorites right now) and mix in a bag of Bold Bites and toss with some extra virgin olive oil. Voila!
