We’re going to talk about Podcasts today but I’d like to start this post by saying that I LOVE books. I love the feeling of holding a book in your hands and turning the page. Also, as an obsessive “To Do” list person I absolutely love that feeling of satisfaction that comes with reading the last page in a book, closing it and looking at all those pages that you just conquered! But, I also realize that we all have a lot on our plates in any given day… more that is realistic to allow on our plates (but that’s an upcoming blog post so I won’t go down a rabbit hole here!). We have a lot happening and it’s not always realistic to expect that we have time to curl up with a good book and get some reading time in each day, or even each week! So, this is where podcasts come in. I haven’t gotten into audio books yet but I’m going to give them a try and let you know how it goes. For now we’re just going to focus on podcasts!
I listen to hours and hours of podcasts each week while I’m running errands, commuting to meetings on the train, doing yard work, cooking and getting ready in the morning. It’s a great way to consume info while still being able to somewhat multitask and not completely monopolize your time. It seems that you can find a podcast on anything now! Listening to them doesn’t take as much time as sitting down to read a physical book (which I do every single morning with my tea because I love books) but podcasts are a great way to slip in extra learning into your day, the same way that adding spinach to a smoothie doesn’t change the smoothie flavor but you get to sneak in some extra greens for the day!
In so many conversation’s I find myself referencing a podcast I’ve listened to or a particularly impactful interview and people often ask me what my favorite’s are. So often, in fact, that I realize I just needed to make a list that people can reference and I can update as I discover new podcasts and episodes I love!
Below is the start of a list of my favorite podcasts and episodes. Even as I write this there are SO many that come to mind that I have to go back and find and add here, and I will! But, if I wait to publish this until it’s perfect I’ll NEVER hit the publish button! So, this is where we can start and I’ll update this list frequently with my new favorites! I’ll also be doing a post on TedTalks I love so stay tuned!
I love hearing about new podcasts and episodes so please leave your favorites in the comments below!

- Length: 1- 2 hours
You might know Tim best from his book, The Four Hour Workweek. That is one of my favorite books of all time and helped me to completely shift my mindset and how I think of business operations and time management. This is my #1 go-to Podcast out of this whole list and I’ve been listening for a long time. Tim’s goal with the podcast is to deconstruct world-class performers (from ALL industries and subjects) and tease out the tools, tactic and tricks that you can use in your own life. The format is so comfortable it feels like you’re invited into a conversation between two old friends. I decided to go back and re-listen to all 263 podcasts, starting with #1! I’m at episode 60 now and I’ve hyperlinked a few of my favorites below.
#8: Chase Jarvis- Master Photographer (1 hr, 24 min)
#44: How To Avoid Decision Fatigue (20 min)
#56 How To Think Like Elon Musk & Jeff Bezos (1 hr, 18 min)
#100 Brené Brown on Vulnerability and Home Run Ted Talks (1 hr, 26 min)

“Why live an ordinary life, when you can life an extraordinary one?” This podcast is all about creating lasting change using proven strategies and tactics you can use to create game changing shifts in your business, relationships, health and finances. It’s a mix between interviews, excerpts from his signature events and interviews with experts in many different fields. I like Tony’s interview style, in all transparency I’m not as into the co-narrator on this podcast so I’ll skip the episodes that she leads but I just love how Tony drills in to get info and disseminates it into bite sized, actionable pieces of information. I’m going to go back and re-listen to all of these podcasts once I’m done with all 263 of Tim’s, but below are a few of my favorites.

Terri Cole is a licensed psychotherapists and transformation coach. I love her “real talk” style. She doesn’t mince words and gets straight to the heart of topics that are front and center for a lot of us. Her focus is on using her experience in practical psychology and therapy practice to bring us real-life strategies for personal transformation, self-improvement and meditation to develop a mindfulness practice and harness the power of intention.

This podcast exposes me to people I might not otherwise hear a podcast with. There are some that I like, and some that I skip but it’s a nice addition to my mix of personal and processional development and gives my mind a break to just be a fly on the wall listening versus being in learning mode. Alec Baldwin interviews all kinds of people on this podcast- artists, policy makers and performers and passes the surface questions and dives right into the good stuff! I’ve only listened to a handful of episodes and have 5 downloading as I type that I can’t wait to listen to! Julie Andrews, Chris Rock, Kristen Wiig, David Letterman, Thom Yorke, Paul Simon and Carol Burnett!? Yeah!
#15 Vogue’s Grace Coddington Doesn’t Want To Think Much About What She Wears (39 min)
#19 The Wonderful Life of Debbie Reynolds (45 min)

I sprinkle in a few of these in my podcast line up every now and then. Shawn Stevenson, author and nutritionist, has a way of breaking down complex health issues and makes them easy to understand. He covers all kinds of health topics like weight loss, chronic fatigue, heart disease, diet, exercise, sex, sleep problems and more with the goal of providing insights that can help you transform your health and live your best life. Again, I’ve only listened to a handful of episodes but I like listening to the guests that he has on and have a bunch queued up to listen to.

Hi A Kate! I don’t very often listen to podcasts, but I love love love audio books! I especially like going to the classics that I haven’t read yet for instance; Two Years Before the Mast was a long book but super easy through the audio on a long trip. Also Frankenstein, pride and prejudice, etc. i’ll try some of your podcasts this week.
